I have been forging these belt buckles since the late sixties with over ten thousand pieces forged and sold to art lovers all over the world; every one an original. A good example of “practice makes perfect”.
Originally, I developed the process of forging these pieces from one continuous length of Naval Bronze to facilitate ease of production. It became a challenging discipline that defined the character of what came to be known as “Chase Buckles”. Every piece is done this way. As you scan the designs shown here you will see that certain motifs are used in endless combinations. The motifs themselves are constantly being modified and new ones added.
